Flanders receives ten European starting grants

The European Research Council ERC has awarded 408 'starting grants'. This allows scientists to start a research group early in their careers. The 408 grants amount to a total of 621 million euros. Ten of the grants were awarded to researchers at a Flemish university: university of Antwerp (3), Ghent university (3) and University of Leuven (3) and VUB (1). Germany (73), the UK (64) and the Netherlands (53) received the most grants.
