Historical perspectives on science and technology policy

In the twentieth century there have been several critical periods for science and technology policy. Think of the Cold War or the rise of public-private partnerships that allowed Silicon Valley to emerge. An article by the American Center for Strategic & International Studies shows that there is much to learn from these events. For example, it can still make sense to "put a lot of money into solving a problem".
