Advisory report 19: Amendment S&I decree: policy framework for the Flemish industrial climate transition program

VARIO finds the transversal approach to the industrial climate transition program and the embedding of the Moonshot initiative within it positive. This transversal approach must also be extended to the various components of the program; the program note and roadmap 2050, accelerating climate innovation and setting up basic infrastructure. When drawing up the program, a systemic approach is necessary, as is embedding and consistency with the policy on alternative raw materials and circularity and the energy policy. The coordination and harmonization between the different policy levels (local, Flemish, federal and European) is also important. Broad participation in the drafting of the program note and roadmap 2050 is necessary. VARIO also wishes to be involved in the advisory process on the program note and the roadmap, specifically from the perspective of innovation, given its importance for the climate transition. Finally, VARIO confirms the importance of accelerating climate innovation in and for the Flemish basic industry, where cooperation is important.
