Introduction meeting FIT technology attachés and VARIO

On Friday 16 May, the VARIO council members took advantage of a unique opportunity to talk to the technology attachés from Flanders Investment & Trade. There were two items on the agenda: (1) a brainstorming session on consultation and interaction between VARIO and the technology attachés in the context of advisory trajectories, and (2) a brainstorming session on possible cooperation on international benchmarking and missions. Some interesting topics of discussion were:

• Flanders should not only compare itself with top regions within Europe, but also with top innovation regions outside Europe: can VARIO identify these regions?

• Where are the opportunities for Flanders?

• How do other EU countries focus on growth markets?

• What are the strategic priorities?
