Dieter Deforce

Dieter Deforce obtained his Master Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Ghent in 1994 and obtained his PhD at the same university 5 years later. He worked as a postdoc at the University of California, San Diego. Since 2001 his professor and head of the Laboratory of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology at the University of Ghent. He started an accredited Forensic DNA Laboratory, now part of Eurofins Forensics Belgium. Dieter is a member of the Scientific Advice Working Party of EMA and chair of the Belgian Medicines Committee of FAGG. Since October 2023 he has been the chairperson of the AUGent IOF. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of VIB. His research group mainly focuses on applying proteomics and genomics in the field of pharmacogenomics, stem cell development, prenatal genetic diagnosis, (auto)immunity and forensics. Dieter is (co-)author of over 400 scientific papers.
