Dirk Van Dyck

Dirk Van Dyck is Emeritus Professor of Physics at UA where he taught courses in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Business Engineering and Biomedical Sciences.

In 1991 he founded Vision Lab, which specialises in digital image processing and pattern recognition and which has already seen five spin-offs launched. He is co-founder of six spin-offs, including Skyscan (now Bruker MicroCT, 50 employees) and XenomatiX (45 employees) and holds more than 10 patents. He has authored more than 300 international publications, is co-author of 15 scientific books and co-editor of the Handbook of Microscopy and the Handbook of Nanoscopy.

Dirk Van Dyck is active in popularising science, among other through media such as 'How?So!' and 'New Facts'.
