ECOOM study day on intellectual property

Last Friday, June 16^th, the Flanders Business School organized a study afternoon on intellectual property, initiated and moderated by Dean Prof. Bart Van Looy. VARIO presented the VARIO advisory report on strengthening Flanders' technology position with regard to patents. Attention was paid to insightful figures on Flemish patents in an international benchmark, to the economic and technological quality of our patents and to VARIO’s call for a Flemish intellectual property action plan for SMEs. In addition, VARIO council member Koen Vanhalst (European and Belgian Patent Attorney; partner Declercq & Partners) and VARIO director Danielle Raspoet were part of the panel that discussed the added value of protecting intellectual property as well as the limitations or pitfalls to consider.
