Koenraad Debackere presents AWTI advisory report ‘Europe’ at VARIO meeting

Koenraad Debackere was a guest at the council meeting on 25 May as an AWTI council member. He came to explain the advisory report 'Strategic teamwork - Bundle the strength of the Netherlands and the EU for greater research and innovation impact’ from our Dutch sister council in the context of an analogous ongoing VARIO advisory process. Prof. Debackere is very well placed from his position to make the comparison with Flanders and to provide inspiration for our region based on this. The AWTI recommends that European and Dutch policy for science, technology and innovation (STI) should be viewed as a single whole, in which the various components fit together in such a way that it becomes a coherent policy mix. In addition, care must be taken that the stimulated STI activities actually contribute to the ambitions.
