Request for clarification regarding VARIO Advisory Report 42 on strategically responding to the volatile situation for researchers in the United States

During the committee meeting on Economy, Employment, Social Economy, Science and Innovation, the topic of attracting scientists wishing to leave the United States was discussed. This was part of the request for clarification regarding VARIO Advisory Report 42 on strategically responding to the volatile situation for researchers in the United States. The Flemish Government takes VARIO’s recommendations seriously and recognizes the importance of a strategic and forward-looking policy on the international mobility of researchers. A coordinating contact point is being considered as an option worth exploring, in order to centralize reliable and structured information. Various actors in Flanders, including diplomatic representation, knowledge institutions and economic agencies, possess information and networks that could contribute to such a contact point.
